Winner x 2!

I started my morning early. Up and outside by 6:00 a.m. to try to right the damage that occurred yesterday from the storm.  This time, I staked down my tent. I not only staked it down but I tied part of it to the trailer hitch of my car.  My neighbor Verna had an extra ratchet strap and so she tied it to my bumper. That way if the storm happens again and my tent does not hold at least it won't blow into my neighbors. Speaking of my neighbors on the other side, Bea and Steve, they're professional stilt walkers!  They're going to entertain at our Hawaiian party tomorrow night. They're really nice. So far everyone has been really nice. Everybody's willing to help other people and it's just a friendly group. So I got my campsite all set back up in time to grab a shower for the postponed rescheduled opening comments ceremonies.  And they drew the first of the raffle ticket winners. I put my raffle tickets in lots of jars but I wanted to win the Whiskey with Mandy Lea and I bought some Colorado whiskey from the camping store so I'd be ready when I won and I did! There was a cornhole tournament that began at 9:30 and so I said when are we going to have our date and she said how about during cornhole? So we had a whiskey date at 9:30 in the morning :-)

I drove into Grand Junction today, about 15 miles away. It was the Omnia Oven cooking competition  day!  Appetizers were at 4:00, main dish at 4:30, and desserts at 5:00. I was entering the main dish competition with my own Omnia oven and with a borrowed one from Cathy who said I could use hers because she wasn't entering.  I was making Black Tie Chicken, which is a family favorite, and chilaquiles. I packed all the food that I would need before I left but the avocados that I packed were a little too ripe and you can't enter a competition when your avocados are too ripe. So that's why I went to Grand Junction. And then even though it's really hot, I cooked over both burners of my camp stove with two Omnia ovens running. I'll put a picture of the Omnia oven but it's a little stove top oven made in Sweden that is known by campers and boaters.
 Here are my entries:
And my Chilaquiles won!!

I won an Omnia cookbook and an Omnia apron and of course a medal to wear around my neck :-) just like the Olympics!  They looked better in person!  So it was a winner x 2 day.
