Storm - Round Two
Another stormy wild ride last night! This one came in the overnight hours. I awakened to a noise and the trailer moving and of course I immediately thought it was a bear. :) I'm quite terrified of bears and the last thing I remember before I went to sleep was wondering if I had cleaned my camp stove well enough so that no bears would visit my campsite. I slid my window shades open a tiny bit and saw lightning and then realized we were in for another storm.
That's a picture of my normal tie-down strap, a 6 gallon water container sitting on the tent edge, and a ratchet rope tying my tent to the car. This morning my Clam Quick-set tent is standing proudly and as I look around, that's not the case with everyone else. One of my fellow campers just walked by toting his broken and battered awning to the garbage dump.
It's an absolutely gorgeous morning. The sun is just clearing the top of the mesa, mountain, rock formation? I turned my air conditioner off for the first time in probably my whole trip. I'm letting some fresh air in because I'm almost chilly in shorts and a t-shirt. It was cool enough to take the dogs for a walk over to the dumpsters at the very edge of the campground. They're really showing their age and when it's so hot, I don't take them out for a walk at all. The dumpsters are positioned far away from us for a very good reason. Bears like garbage.
Because of all the rain, I-70 was again closed around Glenwood Canyon. With the uncertainty around I-70, especially the Eastbound lanes which run along the river in places, I'm going to plan a different route out of Colorado on my way to Wyoming. I have an RV routing app that routes you on roads safe for RVs. Plus, there's a lot of Coloradoans here that can advise.
Time to head back to the coffee tent and stop by the breakfast food truck. I heard the GJ Fusion food truck guy tell Mandy he didn't sell enough breakfasts yesterday to break even so today, I'll get my breakfast from them.
